Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - Six teachers will be awarded the Baden-Württemberg teacher award online this Wednesday.

The Kinderland Baden-Württemberg Foundation honors the special commitment in the field of education for sustainable development.

The prize money totaling 75,000 euros will benefit the three schools in which the six women and men teach.

The corona crisis has a firm grip on everyday life and events can still not take place, according to the foundation.

"Excellent sustainable school projects in the country should still get the recognition they deserve."

Thomas Bader from the Galileo Primary School in Stuttgart is honored for the category “Dealing with sustainability as a matter of course in everyday life”.

In addition, the teacher and his students took special care of disadvantaged people.

For example, they are committed to improving the living conditions of the homeless.

According to the foundation, Dominic Arbogast and Stefan Wehner from the Merian Realschule in Ladenburg (Rhein-Neckar district) organize a large number of different projects, all of which are shaped by the idea of sustainability.

This includes, for example, the work on an anti-bullying program, but also collection points for old books and school materials, as well as Unicef charity runs and beekeeping.

The teaching principle of sustainability is in the foreground for the teaching staff of the Neuenstein Community School (Hohenlohekreis).

Represented by the teachers Raissa Grylicki, Annette Käppler and Helena Rückert, it is among other things about questioning and changing one's own consumption habits or looking at farms and supermarkets anew as areas of experience under the theme of sustainability.

The Kinderland Foundation's teacher award is being presented for the third time.

The award is aimed at teachers in grades three to six in Baden-Württemberg.
