Saarbrücken (dpa / lrs) - The Saarbrücken public prosecutor has closed its investigations into suspected cases of sexual abuse at the ENT clinic at the University Hospital in Homburg.

There were seven proceedings in this context, the public prosecutor's office announced on Wednesday in Saarbrücken.

The investigation did not lead to "indications of the criminal liability of persons".

The "Saarbrücker Zeitung" had previously reported on it (Wednesday).

The suspected cases in the ear, nose and throat clinic (ENT) became known in the second half of 2019.

It was about noticeable injuries in children.

According to the public prosecutor's office, it was not possible to clarify whether the injuries or abnormalities found were the result of sexual abuse - and whether there were connections between the incidents.

In one case, a reference to treatment was ruled out because the abnormalities had already occurred before, it said.

The proceedings were discontinued in January: there were no further “promising investigative approaches”.

Previously, in the summer of 2019, a suspicion of abuse against an assistant doctor of child and adolescent psychiatry in Homburg, who died in 2016, had become known at the Homburg University Hospital.

He is said to have sexually abused several children during examinations from 2010 to 2014.

The public prosecutor's office had investigated the suspected cases at the time - but the proceedings were discontinued after the doctor's death.
