Erfurt (dpa / th) - At nationwide speed controls, the Thuringian police flashed 142 speeders alone on the autobahns until Wednesday noon.

16 speeders gave so much gas that they are threatened with a driving ban, as a spokeswoman for the highway police said on request.

The Thuringian police participated with the controls, which continued, in a nationwide day of action for more traffic safety.

With 25 mobile flash units, the police officers have been on duty at different locations since the early morning.

A final result of the controls is expected on Thursday.

Because of the corona pandemic and the associated infection control measures, the annual “Blitzermarathon” is not as comprehensive this year as in previous years.

For example, on-site checks with personal contact with drivers have been reduced this year.

The police spokeswoman said there were truck controls at three checkpoints on the motorways.
