Klingenmünster / Landau (dpa / lrs) - Around a week after his arrest for a knife attack in the Palatinate Klingenmünster, a 24-year-old is free again.

According to the current state of the investigation, it can no longer be assumed that the accused stabbed the 30-year-old victim's upper body with a knife, the Landau public prosecutor said on Wednesday.

A suspicion of an attempted homicide is no longer there, but it will continue to be determined against the 24-year-old, said a spokeswoman.

The arrest warrant was lifted on Tuesday and the man was released from custody.

The 30-year-old met the 24-year-old in front of a bank branch on Tuesday last week, and then there was a dispute.

The man's hand was slightly injured.

A knife was involved, according to the public prosecutor's office, but according to the current state of knowledge, there was no targeted attack.
