Heilbronn (dpa / lsw) - A man is said to have seriously injured his wife with 21 stab wounds - today the verdict is expected in the trial against him.

As a spokesman for the court announced on Tuesday, the defendant has incriminated himself extensively in the process.

According to the indictment, the 35-year-old Bulgarian was forbidden to enter the formerly shared marital home in Heilbronn.

In September of last year, however, he is said to have entered via a rain gutter and the kitchen window.

In the living room he is said to have met his wife and her lover red-handed.

He is said to have stabbed them with a kitchen knife out of anger.

The lover fled unharmed.

The man is said to have inflicted 21 stitches in the upper body and legs of his wife.

She was saved by emergency surgery.
