Bremen (dpa) - In the course of the investigation into the insolvent Greensill Bank in Bremen, the public prosecutor's office had several apartments searched.

The apartments of five suspects in the Lower Saxony area and also in Munich are affected, said the spokesman for the Bremen public prosecutor's office on Wednesday.

The search actions were already carried out on Tuesday.

The spokesman did not give details.

The authority is investigating suspected balance sheet falsification.

The financial supervisory authority Bafin closed the Greensill Bank in Bremen to customers at the beginning of March.

On March 16, the Bremen District Court opened insolvency proceedings at the request of Bafin.

In connection with the collapse of the bank, many German municipalities fear millions of dollars.

In contrast to private investors, their investments are not protected by the deposit protection fund.
