Berlin (dpa / bb) - In view of the increasing number of political acts of violence and anti-Semitic incidents in Berlin, Interior Senator Andreas Geisel draws historical comparisons to the Weimar Republic.
“I am concerned that the political fringes of society are growing stronger.
I see parallels to the Weimar Republic, where too many democrats have remained silent about such developments, ”said the SPD politician of the newspaper“ nd.DerTag ”(Thursday).
“Overall, we are observing that political extremism is increasing.
This is also reflected in the police crime statistics, ”said Geisel.
"In addition, anti-Semitic incidents in connection with the lateral thinker demonstrations increased in the past year."
Geisel announced that he wanted to raise awareness of anti-Semitism and anti-Semitic stereotypes among police officers in the capital so that they can be better recognized and the officers can take action against them.
