After Manchester City in the early evening, Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham and Arsenal announced on Tuesday that they were withdrawing from the controversial breakaway European Super League project, in separate statements.

"After listening to you and the wider football community over the past few days, we are withdrawing from the proposed Super League. We made a mistake and we apologize for it," even tweeted the Arsenal Gunners, as Chelsea, the last English club still involved, should soon follow suit, according to media reports.

After these announcements, only six clubs would remain involved in the Super League: Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Atletico Madrid, AC Milan, Inter Milan and Juventus.
