Stuttgart (dpa / lsw) - The FDP parliamentary group is pressing for a special session of the state parliament to debate the federal government's corona emergency brake and the consequences for Baden-Württemberg.

FDP parliamentary group leader Hans-Ulrich Rülke requested a meeting with the President of the State Parliament, Muhterem Aras, but received a rejection.

"In this situation, which is important for the state, it is imperative from our point of view that the state parliament as a whole discusses and positions itself", wrote Rülke to the Green politician.

Aras justified her no by saying that the special sessions always followed the conference of prime ministers. “The reason for which you are now requesting a special session is different. It is about the enactment of a federal law that, once it comes into force, will apply in the country without further ado. The deliberations on this law take place in the German Bundestag », it says in the answer of the President of the State Parliament, which is dated April 14 and is available to the dpa.

The FDP parliamentary group leader showed no understanding for the cancellation.

Rülke said on Wednesday that there was a special meeting after each conference of the state heads of government.

«And now a majority in the Bundestag intervenes not only in the basic human rights, but also in the most elementary state rights and our state parliament shouldn't be interested in that?

This is a declaration of bankruptcy by parliamentarianism and a very worrying sign of democracy in our country. "

Because the federal states are inconsistently implementing measures against the third corona wave and at the same time the infection situation is getting more and more out of control, the emergency brake is to be enshrined in law at the federal level.

In counties with more than 100 new weekly infections per 100,000 inhabitants, easing would then have to be withdrawn.

Baden-Württemberg did not want to wait until the draft was approved by the federal government and has already incorporated the emergency brake into the new Corona regulation.

This also includes night exit restrictions.
