Würzburg (dpa / lby) - The election of the 65th Franconian wine queen will be postponed again to next spring due to the corona pandemic.

Viticulture President Artur Steinmann said on Wednesday that applicants for the office of Franconian Wine Queen were not exposed to any unnecessary risk during preparation and election.

The crown will remain with the current Franconian wine queen Carolin Meyer from Castell (Kitzingen district) until a successor is elected in spring 2022.

The Franconian Wine Queen represents the winemakers and their viticulture in Bavaria, Germany and abroad - usually for twelve months.

In a normal year of office, the Franconian Wine Queen completes around 400 appointments, according to the Viticulture Association.

A new election had to be postponed last year due to the corona pandemic.
