Insel Poel (dpa / mv) - A special vaccination campaign in cooperation with the Bundeswehr on the island of Poel has got off to a good start from the point of view of the district.

"We have shown that it works," said district spokesman Christoph Wohlleben.

On Wednesday morning, a station for corona vaccinations without an appointment was set up at the Inselmuseum in Kirchdorf for the day.

Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) had said in the past that they wanted to create additional vaccination offers in the area with mobile teams and the support of the Bundeswehr.

According to Wohlleben, despite the good start, the concept will initially be postponed until enough vaccine is available.

But there is already a lot of interest from municipalities to carry out similar actions there.

In the morning on Poel over 70-year-olds were vaccinated with the vaccine from Biontech / Pfizer.

The stock of 48 cans has meanwhile been increased to 72.

Wohlleben assumed that these had also been completely inoculated.

In the afternoon, vaccinations for people aged 60 to 69 years with 60 doses of Astrazeneca serum were planned.
