Mühlenbecker Land (dpa) - Due to an ammunition discovery near the northern border of Berlin, rail travelers will be delayed on Wednesday.

According to initial findings, the find was world war ammunition, as a spokeswoman for the federal police said on Wednesday.

The IC connection between Dresden, Berlin, Rostock and Warnemünde as well as the S-Bahn line S8 were affected.

Deutsche Bahn wrote on its website that affected trains would have to be rerouted.

The S-Bahn Berlin referred to a rail replacement service via Twitter.

According to the Federal Police, the ordnance disposal service is now checking the find near the Mühlenbeck-Mönchmühle S-Bahn station in the Mühlenbecker Land (Oberhavel district).
