Mainz (dpa / lrs) - According to the Ministry of Health, the clinics in Rhineland-Palatinate will receive 62 million euros in lump-sum funding for individual measures in addition to the hospital investment program on June 1.

That is 7.8 million euros more than in previous years, said Health Minister Sabine Bätzing-Lichtenthäler (SPD) on Wednesday.

The state is thus providing hospitals with a total of around 198 million euros this year, including the financial resources for implementing the hospital structure fund.

According to the information, the increase in the lump-sum funding is part of a change in the state ordinance that came into force a few days ago.

This provides that the hospitals will receive the lump sum funding as a total amount as early as June 1, 2021 to secure their liquidity in the tense economic situation caused by the pandemic.

These funds are distributed to all clinics in the state according to a predefined key, which takes into account the number of cases and the tasks of the hospitals.
