Biden said during his public speech that "no one should be above the law, and today's verdict sends that signal."

In addition, he called for police reform, which will prevent such abuses in the future.

Earlier, the court found ex-policeman Derek Chauvin guilty on all counts of the murder of African American George Floyd.

Now he faces up to 40 years in prison.

African American George Floyd died in late May shortly after being detained by police in Minneapolis.

One of the police officers held him down with a knee on his neck. 

After Floyd's death, massive protests against racial discrimination and police violence began in the United States.
