Munich (AP) - Bayern professional Joshua Kimmich wants his current coach Hansi Flick as the future national coach.

"Now, of course, I hope that if it happens in the summer that he will then take over at the DFB," said the German national soccer player on Tuesday after the 2-0 win against Bayer Leverkusen on Sky TV.

The 56-year-old Flick is considered to be the top favorite to succeed Joachim Löw as national coach after his announcement that he would like to prematurely terminate his contract with FC Bayern at the end of the season.

The news that he wanted to quit in Munich “made one sad”, said Leon Goretzka, referring to the “special and extraordinary time” and the “spirit in the team”.

Nevertheless, it is important to "accept Flick's decision for all of us".
