Amazon, an American conglomerate that has expanded its business around e-commerce, has announced that it will open its first beauty salon store in London, UK.
According to a report by US economic media CNBC broadcast, Amazon established a store called ``Amazon Salon'' on the two floors of a building near the city of London, a financial center. We plan to accept reservations from the general public.
The store area is about 140m2 and is large enough to accommodate about 5,000 people.
Amazon plans to apply a variety of IT technologies to the operation of this salon, such as allowing users to choose a hair dye color with augmented reality technology.
"We designed the salon to give users the best technology, hair care products, and styles," Amazon said. "It will also be a place to test new technologies."
Started as an online bookstore in 1994, Amazon is now expanding its business areas, such as unmanned marts, along with various online businesses such as cloud computing, music streaming, and games as well as e-commerce.
