Kiel (dpa / lno) - Service employees from Service Stern Nord (SSN) at the Schleswig-Holstein University Medical Center (UKSH) went into a 48-hour warning strike on Wednesday morning.

Around 800 employees at the two locations in Kiel and Lübeck had reported on the labor dispute, said the chairman of the union of service employees (GDS), Steffen Beckmann.

Among other things, the areas of housekeeping, catering and logistics are affected.

Demonstration trains were planned at the two clinic locations in the morning.

The union expected around 200 participants each.

The GDS calls for the wages of SSN employees to be gradually brought closer to the public sector collective agreement by 2023.

According to a clinic spokesman, the UKSH is reducing the elective program selectively to be on the safe side - operations whose times can be selected.

Emergency care is guaranteed in any case.

"We ask our patients for their understanding."
