Erfurt (dpa / th) - Corona aid amounting to around one million euros has been paid in Thuringia for companies with jobs for the severely disabled, social enterprises and social department stores.

The Ministry of Social Affairs announced on Wednesday.

The sum comes from federal funds.

A corresponding aid program for these institutions was launched by the federal government at the end of last year.

Nine institutions benefit from the funds already approved in Thuringia.

According to the ministry, the Suhl Integration Office responsible for processing in Thuringia has received 26 applications.

Since the program has been extended until May, further applications are possible.

Since the beginning of the pandemic, companies in which people with severe disabilities work have also been affected by closings, short-time working and corresponding lost sales.

According to the ministry, there are 900 of these so-called inclusion companies in Thuringia.
