Munich (dpa / lby) - Bavaria wants to ensure cross-company vocational training in Corona times with around 35,000 rapid tests per month.

The Bavarian Council of Ministers has decided on a corresponding test strategy analogous to schools for the institutions of the guilds and chambers, as the Ministry of Economic Affairs announced on Wednesday.

The Free State bears the costs.

"We must do all we can to prevent the vocational training from getting into the sand", said Minister of Economic Affairs Hubert Aiwanger (Free Voters).

In 2020, the number of newly concluded training contracts fell by 6.9 percent.

"We have to break this trend in 2021, otherwise years of commitment to professional orientation, the supply of skilled workers and company succession in the skilled trades will be undone."

The Bavarian Crafts Day welcomed the regulation, but would like more: Even further training measures and events for professional orientation should be able to take place in attendance, said General Manager Frank Hülpers.

He hopes that this will be possible again soon.
