Otterfing (dpa / lby) - The driver of a pickup truck went off the lane on Tuesday on the A8 from Salzburg towards Munich, got into the grass verge and was critically injured.
His co-driver suffered minor injuries.
The vehicle had overturned several times in the accident in the area of the Hofoldinger forest and then came to rest behind the guardrail, said the motorway police.
The fire brigade released the 31-year-old driver from the van.
He was flown to a Munich hospital in a rescue helicopter.
The passenger could leave the vehicle himself.
A lane was closed for about an hour and a half to record the accident.
