Hamburg (dpa) - After a twelve-day break, Hamburger SV returns to the promotion race of the 2nd Bundesliga with two games within four days.

"We have big tasks ahead of us," said coach Daniel Thioune on Tuesday.

On Thursday (8.30 p.m. / Sky) the team will play at SV Sandhausen, on Sunday (1.30 p.m. / Sky) at Jahn Regensburg.

From Wednesday to Sunday, the team uses the two away games for a competition trip with a short training camp.

"We travel to Sandhausen with a full band," said the coach, who can also fall back on the recently injured Jeremy Dudziak.

The midfielder suffered from an eye infection but was able to train with the team again on Tuesday.

He and his team used the past few days to adjust a few parameters, said Thioune.

Because SV Sandhausen only resumed training last Monday after a 14-day quarantine, the rival is difficult to calculate.

"Perhaps a complete surprise awaits us," said Thioune and expressed the hope that all those affected at SVS will be healthy again.

"The fact is, in order to keep this league, you have to accelerate a little."

The team is penultimate, one point behind the relegation place.

On his return on Sunday, the coach would like to "land with six points in Hamburg".

HSV (50 points) are currently third in the table behind VfL Bochum (57) and Greuther Fürth (51).
