The Gothia Cup, which should have been played July 18-24, has been canceled, the organizers write in a press release.

The reason given is that the Swedish Public Health Agency and Smittskydd Västra Götaland have made forecasts for the summer which show that a large sporting event such as the Gothia Cup will not be held.

- It feels almost unreal to be forced to make this decision for the second year in a row.

With the advice we receive from infection control expertise, we must make this decision now, with sadness in our hearts, says Dennis Andersson, Gothia Cup's general secretary.

Also Partille Cup canceled

The Partille Cup, which should have been played 5-10 July, is also canceled.

Both cups were canceled in 2020 and would have been held in a smaller format this year.

However, they cannot be implemented due to prevailing restrictions in society.
