Bremerhaven (dpa) - The Fischtown Pinguins from Bremerhaven are about to enter the playoff semifinals of the German Ice Hockey League for the first time.

Thanks to late hits from Jan Urbas (59th minute) and Dominik Uher (60th), the Seestädter won the first of three possible quarter-finals against the Grizzlys Wolfsburg 4: 2 (0: 1, 1: 1, 3: 0) on Tuesday evening .

On Thursday (7.30 p.m. / MagentaSport) the penguins can move into the semifinals with another victory in Wolfsburg.

The other goals for Bremerhaven were scored by Tye McGinn (25th) and, in a spectacular final phase, Uher (56th) with his first goal of the day.

Shortly before the end, the penguin double punch followed within seven seconds.

Spencer Machacek (7th) and Gerrit Fauser (36th) were successful for Wolfsburg.
