Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - In thick fog, there was a series of rear-end collisions on the A 46 near Mönchengladbach with a total of 24 cars involved and four injured.

In addition to more than 100,000 euros in damage, there was a ten-kilometer traffic jam, reported the motorway police in Düsseldorf on Tuesday.

The first reports of accidents were received on Tuesday around 7.30 a.m.

In thick fog with visibility less than 50 meters, eight accidents occurred in the direction of Düsseldorf between Erkelenz and Mönchengladbach.

Four people were slightly injured.

The motorway was completely closed for almost two hours.

When it was released around 9:35 a.m., the fog had cleared.
