As the police announced on Monday, the 32-year-old driver drove on Sunday afternoon despite a red light at an intersection in the Leipzig district of Rückmarsdorf.

She collided with the car of a 31-year-old when it was driving green at the intersection.

Their vehicle was pressed against two flagpoles and came to a halt on the exhibition grounds of an adjacent car dealership.

Shortly afterwards, a 45-year-old man drove at the intersection, also collided with the 32-year-old's vehicle and pushed her car against a traffic light mast.

All were rushed to hospital with serious injuries.
