The Environment and Building Committee in Kiruna has twice approved the building permit for the siblings Greus wilderness camp in Suijavaara.
But after a second referral of the case, the board chose to decide on rejection.
- We saw no prospect of moving forward.
Now the applicants can at least appeal to a higher instance, says Sten Nylén, health care party and chairman of the environment and building committee.
Municipal Council: The government must put its foot down
Gunnar Selberg would rather have seen that the board stood up and that they, Kiruna municipality, themselves had pursued the case to the government court.
- Then the government must put its foot down.
Is this an area where the reindeer herding industry should take precedence over everything else, be clear and say so then.
Wants to pursue other issues such as pilot cases
After the rejected building permit, there is nothing that Kiruna municipality can do for the camp in Suijavaara.
On the other hand, Gunnar Selberg wants to find other cases to pursue as pilot cases.
- We are definitely in on that.
We will try to find one or more cases that we will pursue.
