Mainz (dpa / lrs) - The Rhineland-Palatinate economy wants to help with the corona vaccinations of the population.
Company doctors should play an important role in this.
The reactions of the companies to a corresponding concept of the four chambers of industry and commerce in the state are “absolutely positive”, as Günter Jertz, managing director of the IHK Rheinhessen, told the German press agency.
This week there is to be a discussion with the state government on this proposal.
"We have a lot of feedback," said Jertz.
All companies that are available as so-called anchor companies or that want to join one are currently recorded.
In the anchor companies, company doctors should not only be able to vaccinate entire workforces, but also their relatives and, in addition, the employees of surrounding companies and the local population.
The prerequisite is that sufficient vaccine is available.
Jertz confirmed that nothing should change the sequence of vaccinations.
It is a matter of pushing the planning ahead so that the vaccinations can be started as quickly as possible as soon as all the requirements have been met.
This approach is very much welcomed by the companies contacted.

The IHK concept envisages that in addition to the two previous pillars of vaccination - the regional centers and general practitioners' practices - the companies will be added as a “third pillar”. The aim of the IHK is to have at least one anchor company in each of the 129 municipalities in the state or in their vicinity participate in the vaccination. Of the 250,000 IHK-affiliated companies in Rhineland-Palatinate, around 150 have more than 500 employees. Above all, these are suitable to become anchor companies, it said. However, the vaccination bureaucracy must be reduced to a minimum - for example, as with the in-house flu vaccination, demands the IHK.
Last week, a vaccination center was opened at the chemical giant BASF in Ludwigshafen.
According to the group, the Rhineland-Palatinate state government has guaranteed weekly deliveries of vaccine.
The vaccination sequence should be adhered to in the company.
