Hamburg (dpa / lno) - Because of two attacks on a pregnant young woman, a process begins today (9:00 a.m.) at the Hamburg-St.

George.

The woman's former partner is accused.

The 26-year-old man is said to have tried to kill the unborn child of his then 17-year-old girlfriend.

The defendant is said to have staged attacks on his pregnant girlfriend on two occasions so that she could lose their child, the prosecutor said.

The defendant and a co-defendant of the same age, who also came from Syria, are charged with joint attempted abortion in unity with dangerous bodily harm.

In the second attack in April 2020, the woman went into premature labor so that an emergency caesarean section had to be initiated.

The premature birth was life-threatening for mother and baby, said a spokeswoman for the prosecutor.

According to a court spokesman, the child did not suffer any permanent damage.

The father is on remand because of the risk of blackout.
