Kiel (dpa / lno) - The Bundesliga handball players at THW Kiel have successfully started their series of five away games in a row.

On Sunday, the German record champions and defending champions won 33:22 (17:10) at HBW Balingen-Weilstetten.

With seven goals, Niclas Ekberg had a decisive role in the THW consolidating its second place in the table behind the north rivals SG Flensburg-Handewitt.

The four-time goalscorers Rene Zobel and Oddur Gretarsson were most successful for HBW.

Only in the initial phase could the Balinger keep up a little.

After the 4: 4 (8th minute), Kiel pulled away to 10: 5 (17th).

By the break, the lead of THW coach Filip Jicha's team increased to seven goals.

The Balinger defended themselves as best they could and initially managed to keep the deficit within tolerable limits in the second period of the game.

There was no question that the “Zebras” won the 22nd victory in their 25th duel with the HBW in the end.

Domagoj Duvnjak gave the North Germans the first ten-goal lead seven minutes before the final whistle with the 30:20.
