Until late Sunday afternoon, the rescue service in the southern Stockholm area has responded to ten fires.

In Haninge and Södertälje, it has burned on about one hectare.

- In some cases, it has been related to people setting fire, says Ludvig Tejler, who is chief of operations at Södertörn's fire protection association.

Many people get to burn garden waste, last year's grass or other dry and flammable.

- I see a fairly clear trend in that you forcefully misjudge which forces you put in motion.

You do not understand that it goes away.

Large parts of the country

In the Sjuhärad area, at least seven fires have caused alarms, according to Borås Tidning.

It is about grass fires and in one case the fire has spread over several hectares.

In Blekinge, there are alarms about new fires "all the time", according to the newspaper BLT.

In a major fire in Kristianstad, three barn buildings burned down.

How the fire started is still unclear, but the fire spread to grass and trees around, on an area of about 5,000 square meters, according to Kristianstadsbladet.

In Bollstabruk in Ångermanland, the course of events was the opposite: A grass fire picked up speed and spread to a barn, where it burned in the facade before the rescue service was able to extinguish it, reports Allehanda.

Grass fires are also reported in Östergötland and Sörmland in some places.

In the northern Stockholm area, the rescue service has been alerted to a fire in a field in Kista, TT is told.

However, it is judged to be under control.

"Do not fire"

Do not start thinking about precautions before a fire.

You should not fire at all when the grass is so flammable, says Ludvig Tejler at Södertörn Fire Brigade Association.

- It's like when you light a fire.

You take a match and light a fire on a piece of paper or a twig in the fire.

Then you can still blow it out.

Then suddenly it can no longer be blown out and the fire escalates, he explains.

- The same thing happens in dry grass.

You try to control it with a water jug and it works for a while, but then the jug becomes very damp in the context.
