Teltow (dpa / bb) - A lightning strike at Teltow train station (Potsdam-Mittelmark district) led to restrictions in rail traffic on Sunday evening.

The impact triggered a short circuit in the overhead lines and a signal box malfunction, said a spokesman for Deutsche Bahn.

According to the information, the route between Berlin-Südkreuz and Ludwigsfelde was therefore not passable.

An ICE got stuck near Großbeeren-Süd.

Other long-distance trains were diverted according to the railway.

In regional traffic, there were restrictions on the RE3 (Stralsund / Schwedt (Oder) - Lutherstadt Wittenberg / Falkenberg (Elster)) and RE4 (Rathenow - Ludwigsfelde) lines.

Technicians from the railway are on their way to Teltow, it said.

It is assumed that they could fix the problem at the signal box quickly.

Then the ICE could continue its journey.
