Frankfurt / Main (dpa / lhe) - For a mouse hunt with forbidden sticky traps, a Frankfurt restaurateur has to pay a fine for cruelty to animals.

A penalty order for 40 daily rates against the 56-year-old became legally binding before the Frankfurt District Court.

The court wants to decide separately on the amount of the daily rates.

The defendant, who earned only moderately as a result of the Corona crisis, considered the daily earnings of 125 euros originally assumed by the court to be too high.

In the middle of last year, two dead mice were found in a storage room next to the restaurant in Frankfurt-Sachsenhausen.

The incident led to the criminal proceedings and the conviction because the sticky traps offered in the trade are only intended for use against insects, but not against vertebrates, according to the prosecutor.

The manufacturers also provided the packs with appropriate information.

Against this background, the landlord limited his objection to the amount of the daily rates.
