  • Mia, 8, was kidnapped Tuesday by three men while she was with her maternal grandmother in the Vosges.

  • Her mother, who no longer had custody of it, has since vanished.

The gendarmes wonder if this woman with the worrying profile would not be involved in the kidnapping of her daughter.

  • The Abduction Alert system was triggered Tuesday evening at 9 p.m.

About thirty reports were collected during the night by the gendarmes.

Could Mia's mother be involved in the kidnapping of the 8-year-old girl?

On Tuesday, the little brunette girl was kidnapped by three men while she was at her maternal grandmother in Les Poulières, in the Vosges.

Since then, Lola Montemaggi, her mother, who "did not have the right to see her alone", is no longer "at her home", explained on Wednesday the public prosecutor of Epinal, Nicolas Heitz, during 'a press conference.

This 28-year-old woman, with a disturbing profile, is at the heart of the investigations of the gendarmes of the Nancy search section, who are carrying out "painstaking work" to find the child and his kidnappers.

Mia had been placed with her grandmother at the end of 2020. A placement decided by the Epinal prosecutor's office, which had received a report "indicating that the child was facing violence from his mother to the place of his spouse "and" his suicidal remarks ", related the magistrate.

In addition, she had asked to home school her daughter, which was refused.

Last January, before the children's judge, Lola Montemaggi had adopted "a worrying posture": she said she was "sick" and refused "that we interfere in his life or that of his daughter, arguing a position of rejection of life in society ”.

"Below the company's radars"

Since then, she had not responded to any summons from the courts, which she likened to "a criminal organization".

Lola Montemaggi had also made it known, last December, that she planned to "go in a motorhome with her daughter", in order to pass "under the radars of the company", added the prosecutor.

This "very thin" young woman, with light brown hair and measuring around 1m70, was only allowed to see Mia "twice a month", and "only in the presence of a trusted third party", namely her own mother. , who lives in Les Poulières, a village of about 250 inhabitants located about thirty kilometers from Epinal.

Tuesday, the kidnappers come to the latter's home posing as representatives of the Judicial Youth Protection (PJJ).

To put Mia's grandmother in confidence, they show her "papers headed by the Ministry of Justice", notes Nicolas Heitz, who wonders "how they were able to obtain them".

Two men explain to her "wanting to make an unannounced visit to the home and take the child to a meeting" with his mother.

Shortly after, the grandmother is seized with a "bad intuition".

She indeed discovers, by contacting the PJJ by telephone, that she has been deceived, no educator having to come to her home that day.

"We are all collectively worried"

Immediately, the prosecution opened an investigation for "kidnapping of a minor under 15", entrusted to the research section of Nancy and the research brigade of Saint-Dié-des-Vosges.

About 90 gendarmes set out in search of the gray Volkswagen van used by these three men in their thirties.

Around 9 p.m., the Abduction Alert procedure is triggered by the prosecution.

The faces of the girl, who is 1.30m tall and has long brown hair with bangs, and her mother appear on all television screens.

Lifted after three hours, this alert enabled the gendarmes to receive around thirty reports, which were the subject of systematic checks.

The mother's apartment, located in Epinal, was the subject of a "meticulous search", specifies the prosecutor.

"We are all collectively worried, we hope that the investigation will quickly make it possible" to find the child, insisted Nicolas Heitz.

If they do not release the child voluntarily, the kidnappers face a sentence of thirty years of criminal imprisonment.

Anyone with information can share it with investigators by calling 0 800 36 32 68 or dialing 17.
