Wiesbaden (dpa) - The traditional Whitsun tournament of riders in Wiesbaden has been canceled.

"The uncertainty of the Corona situation is a decisive factor," said the President of the Wiesbaden Riding and Driving Club, Kristina Dyckerhoff, in a statement on Wednesday.

Another important point in the decision was the threat posed by the herpes virus.

The virus, which had spread over many countries this year, has caused the International Equestrian Federation (FEI) to impose very strict requirements on all international equestrian organizers.

“In order to meet these requirements, you need a lot of space, for example to set up a quarantine tent, which we hardly have in this form in the Biebrich Castle Park,” explains Dyckerhoff.

The tournament should take place again next year.
