Magdeburg (dpa / sa) - The number of new corona infections is increasing in Saxony-Anhalt, and the Greens are calling for consequences for schools.

"In view of the infection, all schools in Saxony-Anhalt should return to safe distance teaching from Monday," said the Greens state chairwoman Susan Sziborra-Seidlitz on Thursday.

"The emergency care in elementary and special schools as well as the face-to-face teaching of final classes must be secured through close testing."

That means great hardship for many families and students.

"With the current sharp increase in infection rates and the foreseeable large number of circles in the country that will exceed the 200 incidence in the next week, consistent measures must be taken to break the chains of infection," it said.

The Ministry of Education had previously announced that schools in the Stendal district would be closed from next Monday due to the high number of infections.

In the other 13 rural districts and urban districts, classroom teaching should take place at the elementary and special needs schools;

At all general and vocational schools, students take turns learning at home and at school.
