Hanover (dpa / lni) - Housing and homeless people have received an initial vaccination against Covid-19 in Hanover.

More than 100 people were waiting in a long queue early in the morning, announced the Evangelical Lutheran City Church Association of Hanover on Thursday.

250 vaccine doses were in stock.

In total, around 400 homeless and homeless people wanted to receive a vaccination against Covid-19, further vaccination doses have already been requested.

The first person to be vaccinated was 43-year-old Helmut, who came with his dog Asko.

"I feel relieved.

For me, the vaccination means that I can move more freely and be more carefree, ”he said after the first vaccination.

He could get closer to his family again.

The pandemic changed his life: “Everything broke away.

Also the circle of friends. "

The people in the Mecki contact shop, an institution of the Diakonisches Werk, were vaccinated.

Two vaccination teams were on duty.

"It is important for the people that they receive the vaccine today," said Pascal Allewelt, social worker in the contact shop.

"It takes a lot of organizational effort, but it's worth it."

City superintendent Rainer Müller-Brandes emphasized that it was “about people who are really bad”.
