Schwerin (dpa / mv) - In view of the rapidly increasing number of corona infections, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania's state government is advising representatives of municipalities, businesses and associations on stricter measures to combat the pandemic on Thursday.

The online conference was supposed to start on Friday but was brought forward one day due to the rapidly increasing numbers.

It should then be continued on Friday.

On Wednesday, the State Office for Health and Social Affairs reported a record number of 575 new infections.

The nationwide seven-day incidence is currently 158.3.

The Ministry of Social Affairs has already ruled that day care centers will only be allowed to offer emergency care from Monday.

Schools in four of the eight counties and urban districts will also close on Monday because the incidence there is over 150.

The left opposition in the state parliament expects a lockdown of several weeks, as parliamentary group leader Simone Oldenburg said after a conversation between Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig (SPD) and the chairman of the state parliament groups on Wednesday.
