"Only Afghans have the right and responsibility to lead their country," said Joe Biden, officially announcing the withdrawal of US troops from the White House by 11 September 2021. The withdrawal, the US president later explained, will begin. May 1, a date negotiated by the previous Trump administration with the Taliban for the complete exit of American soldiers from the country.






NATO: allies green light to withdraw from 1 May


"The allies have established that we will begin the withdrawal of the forces of the support mission" in Afghanistan "from 1 May".

This is stated in a NATO statement.

"This withdrawal will be ordered, coordinated and deliberate. We expect to complete the withdrawal of all US forces and Resolute Support Mission within a few months. Any Taliban attack on allied troops during this withdrawal will receive a forceful response," it is still written.
