Wiesbaden (dpa / lhe) - According to a survey, the climate crisis and its consequences are a headache for a large part of the people in Hesse.

83 percent of those surveyed had expressed concern about the climate changes, said the Ministry of the Environment in Wiesbaden.

For the study, the market research institute YouGov surveyed more than 1000 Hessian citizens over 18 years of age in March 2021.

More than half have stated that they have serious concerns that they will no longer be able to counteract the climate crisis.

According to the survey, almost a third (31 percent) are more optimistic about the future: They assume that the crisis can still be countered.

More than two thirds (69 percent) of the Hessians now see the issue of climate protection as important, only 12 percent consider it unimportant, as the ministry announced.

A total of 61 percent of Hessians stated in the survey that they had already made their behavior more climate-friendly in the past two years.

Another 16 percent have decided to do it.

These included avoiding waste, conscious consumption and a climate-friendly diet.
