Hamburg (dpa / lno) - The second division handball players of HSV Hamburg have to look for a new sporting home.

As the club announced on Tuesday, the Hamburg sports hall was closed with immediate effect due to defects in the roof structure.

The home games against VfL Lübeck-Schwartau on Friday (8 p.m.) and next Tuesday against EHV Aue (6 p.m.) will be played by coach Torsten Jansen's team in their training hall in the Volkspark.

In addition, a solution is being sought for the leader of the table.

The deficiencies were discovered in the course of a technical inspection for the renovation of the concrete facade.

"This deviation from the norm leads to an increased security risk for parts of the roof and thus for all events that take place in the sports hall," said the responsible district office of Hamburg-Nord.

That is why it was decided to temporarily close the hall.

Further investigations are to follow.

"The news that the Hamburg sports hall is no longer available for our home games with immediate effect caught us off guard," said Florian Gehre, the HSVH managing director responsible for administration and finances.
