Saalfeld / Jena / Heilbad Heiligenstadt (dpa / th) - Because of the continuously increasing seven-day incidence, some Thuringian districts are drawing conclusions in the education sector.

In the district of Saalfeld-Rudolstadt, schools should remain closed for at least two weeks from next Monday, as the district office announced on Tuesday.

The final classes are exempt from the regulation.

The reason given by the district was the increasing occupancy of intensive care beds in Thuringian clinics with Covid 19 patients and the exceeding of the 200 mark in the seven-day incidence.

In Eichsfeld, on the other hand, where the incidence is still just below the limit of 200, the schools should initially remain open, as the district office announced.

District Administrator Werner Henning (CDU) appealed to the population to keep their distance and promoted a respectful handling of the pandemic.

The city of Jena wants to deny access to the schools to parents or other people who are not pupils and are not part of the school staff.

A corresponding general decree will come into force on Thursday, the city administration announced.

In addition, there should be a strict separation of study groups from Friday.

A distance of at least ten meters should be guaranteed in open spaces.

Singing, instrumental lessons and physical education in closed rooms at Jena schools are forbidden from Thursday.
