Erfurt (dpa / th) - Thuringia's Green parliamentary group leader Astrid Rothe-Beinlich has spoken out in favor of giving up vaccination prioritization and vaccinating younger people against the corona virus.

It was right to protect the elderly first, said Rothe-Beinlich of the German press agency.

"But now it has to be a question of vaccinating across the board."

It has been shown that the corona mutations also infect children in particular and thus their parents are also at greater risk.

"That is why we now have to rethink and vaccinate mobile groups," said Rothe-Beinlich.

This refers to all people who are still mobile, go to work and travel a lot.

The 47-year-old criticized the federal government's plans for changes to the Infection Protection Act.

There is no "hard test obligation" for companies, as she said.

In view of this situation, that many people continue to go to work, it is necessary to vaccinate more widely.

Rothe-Beinlich initially did not want to comment on whether a second vaccination should be dispensed with for a certain time in order to give more people the protection of a first vaccination faster, as the SPD health expert Karl Lauterbach, among others, demands.

«I think that shouldn't be decided politically.

Doctors have to judge that, ”she said.

In Thuringia, people from priority groups one and two are currently being vaccinated.

These include people over 80 and with certain previous illnesses as well as elementary school teachers and educators.

The Free State deviates from the Federal Vaccination Ordinance in places and, for example, has all police officers vaccinated - including those with office jobs.

In some counties with a particularly high incidence, people in priority group 3 are also vaccinated.
