Bremen (dpa) - Almost 260 international and national films can be seen from Wednesday (12 noon) at the Bremen Film Festival.

These include 29 world premieres and 74 German premieres, as announced by the organizers.

Because of the corona pandemic, all productions are shown online, plus live streams from the Bremen Theater and a cinema.

Festival director Matthias Greving and program director Sylvia Ilona Rieke will open the film festival with a message of greeting, after which all competition films will be available online with a festival pass.

Prizes are awarded in six competition categories.

The comedian, actor and writer Hape Kerkeling is to be awarded the Bremen Film Prize on Thursday for his humorous and comedic oeuvre.

The film festival ends on Sunday.
