Imperia (dpa) - Almost three years after a student from Hesse fell from a cliff on the northern Italian coast, the process in Imperia is entering the final phase because of the incident.

The public prosecutor's office demanded an eight-year prison sentence for the accused on Tuesday in the court in the port city in Liguria.

This was confirmed by lawyers on both sides.

The defense pleaded for acquittal for lack of evidence.

The verdict is expected on May 4th.
