Augsburg (dpa) - Because of fraud with care services amounting to almost 3.3 million euros, five persons responsible for a care service have been standing before the Augsburg regional court since Wednesday.

At the beginning of the trial, two public prosecutors read the dozen of pages of allegations against the three women and two men.

The accused are said to have cheated several long-term care funds and social assistance providers for more than seven years with inadmissibly billed care services.

This is the first case after extensive investigations by the Munich I public prosecutor's office against those responsible for several nursing services in Munich and Augsburg.

There are already two further charges in the regional courts in the two cities, but no dates have yet been set for the negotiations.

In addition, the preliminary proceedings against around 100 other suspects have not yet been completed, as the public prosecutor reported in March.

The other suspects include doctors and, in particular, the alleged patients for whom the care services were paid.

Those affected are said to have received household services and cash if they participated in the hoax.
