Düsseldorf (dpa / lnw) - The obligation initiated by the Federal Cabinet to offer corona tests in the workplace has met with sharp criticism from the North Rhine-Westphalian economy.

This requirement is "in view of the great efforts made by companies to combat the pandemic in recent weeks neither appropriate nor comprehensible," said the chief executive of the state association of business associations, Johannes Poettering, on Tuesday.

Rather, politicians should support small and medium-sized companies organizationally and financially in carrying out the corona tests.

There was also criticism from the trades.

"Our companies are already testing on a large scale voluntarily," said the President of the Cologne Chamber of Crafts, Hans Peter Wollseifer.

Where this is not yet the case, it is mainly due to the fact that not enough test kits can be procured or delivered.

Punishing companies for this now is inappropriate.

Wollseifer is also President of the Central Association of German Crafts.

In contrast, the HR director of the steel and industrial group Thyssenkrupp, Oliver Burkhard, sees the obligation to test offers less critical.

«Would it have been a duty for everyone?

No.

Does that mean the world is going to end now?

No, ”he wrote on the short message service Twitter.

Thyssenkrupp has sent almost 25,000 parcels with five tests each to employees since last week.
