Berlin (dpa) - The most successful German Olympic participant stands next to him - and Horst Seehofer does not recognize her.

This funny anecdote from 2010 was told by record biathlon world champion Magdalena Neuner in the new podcast by ex-soccer star Manfred Bender.

After two Olympic victories at the Winter Games in Vancouver, "Gold-Lena" became a German sports superstar.

She was supposed to wave to the thousands of fans in Munich after a car parade on the town hall balcony together with the then Bavarian Prime Minister and current Federal Minister of the Interior.

«I was already quite through with the world, was really exhausted.

And then they said to me: Now you stand next to Mr Seehofer, and the first thing you do is go out onto the town hall balcony, ”said the record world champion.

"I'll go to him then," said Grüß Gott.

"Yes, who are they now," he said to me, "Neuner recalled with a laugh.

"I'm the nine," she replied to the CSU politician: "That was a special moment."

The 34-year-old, who is expecting her third child in late July or early August, also became a smuggler in Canada.

Because there was no alcohol in the Olympic village, she snuck out of the village with the bobsleigh riders on the last evening before the return flight - and "we got alcohol in huge quantities," said Neuner.

"Then we came back with a huge rollable freezer and of course we were the heroes and really celebrated."
