Stavenhagen (dpa / mv) - Unknown people broke into state-of-the-art forest machines near Stavenhagen (Mecklenburg Lake District) and plundered them.

As a police spokeswoman said on Tuesday, the main computer, the reversing camera with screen and powerful work lights were removed and stolen from two machines.

The thefts are said to have occurred over the weekend and were reported on Monday.

The two forest machines - a so-called harvester, which saws off trees, delimbing them, peeling off and chopping up the bark, and a heavy logger - were in a wooded area off federal highway 104. Harvester is the technical term for wood harvesting machines.

The property damage is estimated at around 15,000 euros.

The police are hoping for evidence from witnesses and Internet users about possible sales platforms.

According to the police, such break-ins in forest machines have so far been rare.
