Munich (dpa / lby) - Because of the corona pandemic, there will not be the traditional summer reception of the state parliament at Schleissheim Palace this year.

«As much as we would like to celebrate again: A party with 3000 guests is currently unimaginable.

We cannot conclude the necessary contracts for this in the middle of the third wave, ”said Landtag President Ilse Aigner (CSU) in Munich on Tuesday.

The reception had already been canceled last year due to the Corona crisis.

This year it should have taken place on July 20th.

The situation in the hospitals is very worrying, stressed Aigner.

“Planning a major event in this situation - even for July and outside - is not responsible.

It is not yet possible to estimate how the infection situation will develop by then.

We have to stop the planning now so that there are no costs. "

The summer reception of the state parliament at Schleissheim Palace near Munich is one of the highlights of the state's political agenda every year.

Around 3000 guests from culture, politics, sport, the media and many volunteers then usually celebrate in the magnificent palace garden at the invitation of the state parliament.

In the history of the summer reception, the festival was only canceled three times: 1993 and 2005 - each due to difficult economic situations - and 2020, also due to the corona pandemic.
