Rosenheim (dpa / lby) - The possible new railway line in the Bavarian Inn Valley towards Brenner should run east of Rosenheim and Inn.

This became known from a meeting before the official presentation.

Bayerischer Rundfunk also reported on the decision in advance.

Deutsche Bahn intends to publish its proposal for the route for the so-called Brenner northern inlet shortly.

The selected route would run underground in the northeast of Rosenheim and on the Samerberg.

In the south, the Inn should also be crossed, as it was said.

The selection is an important step in the planning on the way to the north inlet of the Brenner.

After further preliminary planning, politicians will decide whether the mega project will be implemented.

So far it has not been conclusively proven whether there is a need for the new building.

Citizens' initiatives reject the project in principle.

They see no need and favor the expansion and modernization of the existing tracks.
